A good time to go up

Post by Kingfield Ender » Fri May 17, 2019 11:51 am

We couldn't have timed that any better could we

Have you seen the state of next years National South?. As well as some big clubs who went down there are some big statements being made

Dorking (league in 5 years) giving 2 year deals
Dulwich going full time (much to the chagrin of some fans who don't want them to go any higher)
And now Doswell is turning Havant & Waterlooville into 'Sutton-lite' Not content with signing players from Sutton he now wants to install a 3G pitch down there too
Hemel have had a fair budget increase to satisfy Sammy Moore who used the lovely phrase 'going for it' in a recent press interview

You would think that clubs like Dartford, St Albans, Chelmsford etc wont be even close to the play offs next season

And lets not forget Drugboys Essex collective & Welling under the midget who should both be right up there
Still Plugging away in the absence of the great one

Indeed, and the NL is going to have two financial basket cases who would be prime candidates for relegation or two reprieved sides relegated this year by a country mile instead. As the only truly PT side in the division I'd settle for 5th bottom, anything beyond that represents a successful season.

And not forgetting our friends over the border (assuming they don't win the AGM Cup)

It is a big relief to go up this season because it is going to get harder and harder to get out of the National South. Hopefully we should find some stability in the National League. The key will be for us to remain financially sound whilst other clubs around us capitulate.

I do have some sympathy with Dulwich fans who are happy where they are. The nature of football, particularly since the pyramid system was introduced, means that clubs will always strive to get to the next level. But I don't view League Two as some kind of Promised Land, and it wouldn't bother me if we never quite made it into the Football League.

But surely the Dulwich fans want to win every game? Which would mean you go up.

Just another example of them trying to come across as 'against modern football' because they think its the 'in thing'.
