Who would you like to see at Woking next season realistically?

Keep;
Ross
Casey (if he’d stay)
Diarra
Cook
Little (we can hope)
Max (as a squad player)
Ferdinand
Luer
Hyde (if fit a good player!)

Dowse said in the N&M that he’s tying Casey up this week. I agree with all of those, the core of the squad is key

The above except get rid of Luer. Don’t think he’ll get enough goals in the league above.

I doubt Hodges will start in the National but great option off the bench and presumably fairly cheap.

Very quick reply!
1- New keeper

3- Casey
4- New Big Lad (next to Casey to cover him defensively)
5- Cook/Diarra/New Big Lad
2- New Big Lad/I Bloody love Collier but can’t see us risking a midfielder/Centre-Half there in the Conference Proper. So NOT Cook at RB either, please Mr Manager

Midfield- New pair of Big Lads “Dogs of War” types/Little/Ferdinand/Edser

No.10- New Big Lad - but do also feel Luer might prefer playing against pro footballers rather than “simply bigger” bruisers in NLS.

9- New Big Lad not-made-of-biscuits/Tarpey/the Oxford City fella

Triallists: Mason/Bradbury/Jolley (versus Swindon version)/Collier

On reflection it seems a very big overhaul, which may seem surprising, but I think the spine of the last two promotion sides were mainly ready for the step up but got chopped, while this lot (love them as I do) will need to improve a lot if they’re not to be chopped and changed.

E.G. Even though Defence was generally our strongest area until it kept getting mucked about, it still isn’t good enough for the Conference as it stands.

Basically, to quote the late Roy Schieder, we’re gonna need a bigger boat!

Worthy of first team place

Casey
Cook
Little

Back up
Ross
Ferdinand, if back to form can start
Hodges
Diarra
Alissani

Hester cook and young to stay. Try and get Tarpey and Edser!

Big overhaul

Craig Ross has been poor IMO, hopefully can get a better number 1 keeper.
Calling offsides before they happen since 1992.

Clearly I'm a touch on the harsh side;

Casey
Cook
Little (Unlikely as I think he'll end up in League 2)
Hodges

As back up
Mason
Ferdinand
Jolley
Hyde
Luer

I like Collier but think he'd struggle in the NL.

Appau, Hester Cook & Young I'd loan to an NLS club.

Hmmm Rob Greens leaving Chelsea.
Could he do a job for us in goal?
Turn up and play for the fun and not worry about the pay cheques.

Keep -
Cook
Casey
Ferdinand
Hodges
Kretzschmar
Young

Would like to sign-
Diarra
Little

For me, Hyde would be a great addition too, but unfortunately he's always injured, so not worth the risk IMO

Based on which games? Gloucester was below his standard, but I can't think of many that I've looked at Ross and gone "you've lost/drawn this for us." Undoubtedly MOTM in the Second Round at Torquay, too.

Agree with this. Rob Green has been mentioned and that would be great but even either way we need a better keeper.

I would keep Jolley as well as most of the names mentioned.

Watch the highlights for the goals we conceded against against Concord and Wealdstone.

Retain:
Mason, Ross
Casey, Collier, Cook, Gerring
Ferdinand, Hester-Cook, Hodges, Kretzschmar
Luer, Young

Release:
Dunn
Choules, Gayle, Kamara, Spence
Appau, Jolley
Hyde, Murrell-Williamson, Ofori-Acheampong, Wheeler

Trial:
Durojaiye, Ferry

Try to secure Little and Diarra in the Summer.

Max has been mentioned a few times. Do we think he can make the step up this time? I’d have my doubts to be honest.

Yes I do. He’s played in the NL and higher already, he was our top scorer (and I imagine had the most assists) and Hamptons last year from midfield. Even if he ends up being a backup, we need to give him a chance to make the step up again.

Max is lazy - that’s going to really show in the league above unless you play him as an out and out striker

Realised I never actually gave my answer, so as per last week's thread:

Keep: Ross, Mason; Casey, Diarra, Cook, Collier; Max, Ferdinand, Hodgey, CHC, Young; Luer.
Release: Dunn; Kamara, Gerring, Gayle, Spence; Ferry, Jolley, Durojaiye, RMW, Wheeler; Hyde, DOA, (plus Cadogan, Glynn, Bradbury...)

--Ross--
--XX--XX--Diarra--Casey--
--XX--Ferdinand--
--XX--Max--XX--
--XX--

Mason, Cook, Collier, Hodgey, Luer
(CHC, Young)

I meant Concord rather than Gloucester - no idea why I said the latter when he only played half the game! Wealdstone is an individual error for the one that squeezes through his legs, but our defence couldn't protect him for the majority of the game as they were bullied to a man, so it's mitigated for me. I look back to games like Torquay and saves like the early one at Dulwich as more indicative. If there's better we should upgrade, as with anyone, but I wouldn't be worried about him if he's in goal next year.

He's lightweight - that's what I think every time I see him play - he gets pushed around, goes down very easily and disappears from games for long spells - I would be concerned if he was a starter next year

I was undecided about Kretzschmar a couple of seasons ago, and still am - he obviously has quality, but much of the game seems to pass him by. But there isn't really much point in discussing whether or not he should be retained next season, because he clearly will be.

He needs to improve his set-piece delivery though.

Far too much floaty-bollocks this season from him. Just perfect catching practice for Wellings keeper on sunday

Max won't make an impact in the NL. There's a reason why he's slipped down the leagues over the years.
