Indeed, RIP.

There’s a Woking Gordon Banks connection, I believe.

Ron Newman was Banks’ manager at Fort Lauderdale when he played is the US in the seventies. Newman, in turn, started at Woking in the fifties. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Newman

Doylie I’m sure will know more / correct me.

Spot on, an interesting career which I was unaware of until I was contacted a by a relative of Newman last summer.

Here’s Gordon Banks officially opening the LGS in August 1996.

You’ll have to narrow it down a bit there, Andy, there’s a lot of us at Kingfield...!

Well I know that but in that picture I can only see one twat and he’s wearing glasses and bears an inane grin, probably due to the cucumber 🥒
Just to confirm he’s standing to Gordon Banks right.

I believe that the 'twat in the glasses' may be Graham Kelly, who was FA Chairman at the time

for the younger ones on here the person the other side of Banks (not in the glasses) in Martin Peters, the scorer of the other goal in the World Cup final

Thanks for that.
It's taken all these years to remove the horrible vision of David Mellor having sex from my mind!
