Cards Conference Quiz part 3

Post by jonwoozley » Thu Jul 12, 2018 5:10 pm

95/96, another stable season with the only major squad change being Thomo coming in for Shane Wye. A new £1.35m stand is built in under 4 months; the club has a Football League standard ground grading; highest club average league attendance of 2,350; highest points total of 83 (would have won the lg on 2 previous seasons); unbeaten at home; still owned the freehold of Kingfield, 12 acres of prime assets. The high point!
"my immediate ambition is to achieve league status" BFG.

1. Worryingly, in 1995 whose name appeared on the Management Committee for the first time?
2. Who started 95/6 as 5-2 favourites to win the conference?
3. Who was under-sold for £5,000 to Gillingham, starting a trend of not getting full value from players moving up a level? Typically teams were getting five figures for players.
4. Clive Walker scored Woking's 2nd conference hat-trick, who then scored 4 goals in one game, on his debut, and 14 goals in his first 7 games?
5. Which previous cup finalist and recent Premier League manager played at Kingfield for Barnet in the FA Cup?
6. Where did Woking beat Enfield in the 'home' FA Cup 2nd round replay?
7. Which club tried to poach BFG as manager, who "could have been swayed if the club's ambition was lacking"?
8. What did Clive Walker do at Morecambe for the first time in three years since joining Woking?
9. How many tonnes of sand were on Carshalton's pitch?
10. What did BFG not do for the whole of January, then did three times at Morecambe?
11. Woking became the third club in the history of the conference to do what? Following Weymouth and Colchester.
12. Which Woking legend scored for Slough against Woking, before returning to play for the Cards later in the season?
13. Who became the first club in conference history to secure a top three finish in three consecutive seasons?
14. Which club became the first to 'overtake' Woking since Marlow were promoted ahead of Woking in 1988? Gatecrashing our natural progression to becoming a league club, beating us for the first time ever on Easter Monday, in the biggest 6 pointer ever in the history of the club, triggering the rivalry and bitterness that persists today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
