Given that’s another centre-back I think it’s safe to assume Staunton’s off

I don't think that's necessarily true. We've only signed three defenders and it's not unreasonable to think we'll want six or seven in total. Whilst it is entirely possible, probably even likely, that he will leave - I don't think the signings so far are a guarantee of that.

If he's going three at the back, which look entirely plausible, then room remains for Staunton alongside the two Hampton lads and what a back three that would be.

Hard to be disappointed, Hampton conceded only 37 goals en route to the play offs. Build from the back was the old fashioned way and with what we currently have in the squad as it stands it's looking good on paper in that department. The system also allows for a free role within it, Max K anyone?

AD mentioned last night that last year he built from the back at H&R, and that is what he seems to be doing here as well

Even if you're not overawed with him individually, we've now signed the two centre-backs who were responsible for the best defensive record in the league we're about to play in last season. After a season of getting absolutely bullied by set-pieces and crosses, having two guys who know how to play with one another at the back is brilliant.

I wouldn't say that - we've currently got Wassamer, Cook, Staunton and Gayle there (not including Stojsavljevic til we know what's going on there, for now). Collier is a versatile player who can play in defence but doesn't have to, from what we've heard.

Interesting interview when talking about the decent defence they had last year he says “the majority of the players he wants to sign are in those positions” (or words tonthat effect). Does that mean the full backs may be coming too??????
