Ex-Cards News (May '19 onwards)

Post by Chobham Card » Wed May 15, 2019 4:21 pm

With the Joey/Wassmer/Ebbsfleet/Dorking threads popping up, I figured we'd find it easier to have one big thread for all the ex-Woking player movements, to stop the forum filling with threads. Might be worth a sticky if people like the idea?

Done some digging this afternoon, and so far:
  • Gozie Ugwu has been released by Chesterfield. No news on Charlie Carter as yet.
  • Delano Sam-Yorke has been released by Dartford. "Waste of space, time and money" according to their forum.
  • Jordan Wynter is in contract talks, negotiating either with Maidstone or another unnamed club.
  • Jack King is set to be released by Ebbsfleet - but as their entire squad seems to have been put up for transfer, others could leave too.
  • Matt Young and Kiran Kinda-John have both been released by Chelmsford. It seems that decisions haven't been made yet on Chez Isaac or Billy Knott.
  • Dave Tarpey has been released by Barnet, who as we know seems to have been training with us this past week.
  • Connor Essam and Kadell Daniel - along with Moussa Diarra - have been released by Dover. Inih Effiong has a year left on his deal there.
  • Aswad Thomas, Brett Williams (ha!) and Ross Worner have been released by Sutton United. Worner has followed his old manager to Havant and Waterlooville.
  • Kieron Cadogan and Jamar Loza are both in talks with Billericay regarding a new contract. Charlie ‘Best Player’ Wassmer and Moses Ademola have both been retained.
  • Paris Cowan-Hall has been released by Wycombe.
I've doubtless missed a few, so please chuck in anything I've missed.

Jordan Wynter has signed for Dartford.
Calling offsides before they happen since 1992.

He's barely missed a game for Peterborough. 43 appearances in League 1 this year.

That was quick! He's a decent utility option at VNS level.

Would anyone take Ugwu again?

Don't remember his stats for us but seemed ok from what I remember and got a few decent goals in a fairly average team

His first goal for 17 games apparently - not a bad time for it.

A shame he needed about 100 chances to score during his 3rd loan spell with us.

17 goals and 5 assists in 42 games for a relegation battler is very decent. Think we could do worse.

Only really scored goals from crosses (from Caprice) though. We aren’t really that sort of side these days, so I can’t see it working TBH.

Joe Gatting is still weighing up his options. Whether he will opt for either the Rajasthan Royals or Royal Challengers Bangalore over Real Madrid is as yet unknown. That’s if Bognor Regis reserves don’t come calling first.

Liam Marum might be at Margate still.

I’d have him back.

Reckon Dowse will have contacts there so would trust his judgement

I'd 100% have him back. He looked great for his age, showed a bit of versatility covering at LB (where if Casey had been injured we'd have had either Diarra or Spence this year?!) One of the few highlights of Limbrick's reign was players like Appau and Stoj looking as good as their peers.

Appau’s always looked capable, which makes me suspect there’s an attitude issue. Big, strong, mobile, very comfortable on the ball and an eye for goal. Why didn’t he get a chance over a combination of loan players this season?

I've no idea. He looked one of our better midfield players last year and scored our Goal of the Season against Guiseley (not that there was much competition there!), but now he's been loaned out to teams like Farnborough and Burgess Hill and hasn't been remotely considered for a team in the division below? Dowse knows better than me, but I don't get it.

Struggled to make an impact at Lewes and Farnborough, got sent off for a silly challenge when playing for Burgess Hill too, whilst they were fighting for survival. Not sure he was a fans favourite there.

Think he was overrated by a lot of fans, thought he was physically decent but poor decision making.

Following his release by Concord due to "changing work commitments," Sam Beasant has liked a Tweet suggesting he should sign for us. I'm sure he was just being polite though.
