I am tremendously sorry for the supporters of Bury, but I believe these things were allowed to drag on far too long.

What about the teams yet to play Bolton - they sure as hell won't be facing the U21 side - how would you feel if you are a supporter whose team drops points against the post takeover version and then miss out on promotion, a play-off place or worst of all get relegated on the back of it?

Takeover for Bolton or even some last minute reprieve for Bury aside - the integrity of that division is seriously compromised, who will play Bury at a time when they are trying to catch up on fixtures and are therefore stretched and fatigued, who might be dis-advantaged by fitting in the extra game at a time when injuries or suspensions might be biting - and who will be playing what Bolton side over the next 7 months?

There should be (every season) a date beyond which you cannot go without satisfying the rules of financial viability - because this events of the last few months have done nothing to deter owners or boards from playing fast and loose with the tax man, employees wages and the payment of players. What is the point of playing within sensible financial limits if any other club can toss the budgets etc aside and know they can always go into a CVA if it all goes breasts skywards?

It is regrettable but the failing or unfit should be left to recover at some other point in the pyramid certainly once the season is underway.

There will still be 2 promoted from the national league....but likely only 2 relegated if Bolton go as well.
but BBC shows only one coming down from div 2 as of now. I guess time will tell.

I think Flakey's been drinking today and has got his "Division 2" and "League 2" mixed up. Seeing as Division 2 does not exist any more as it stands with Bury going pop, only one team will be relegated from "League 2" into the National League while 3 teams will be relegated from 'League 1' (which Bury were in) into 'League 2.'

I hate to be the only one but..... I honestly don't care that much.
They will be back just at a lower level (they have not died).
Next time run it properly so it doesn't happen again.

Only one will come down from League 2 but two teams from the national league will still go up to league 2.

Only three (2 if Bolton weren’t saved)teams will be relegated from the national league. I believe that is what flakey is getting at.

It’s a farce but it’s not that much of a farce that teams can’t get promoted.

If any money is to be raised it should be for the employees of Bury FC. And lets not forget all the businesses owed money by Bury, nobody's even mentioned them.

The players have had some money from the PFA, other employees have had nothing, and that's just wrong
When Leicester City went into administration many local businesses never received payment. They then broke FFP to win promotion, the rest is history. Rules have changed since however the enforcement of punishment is still inconsistent.

When a club sinks it’s the local community that is often hit hardest. This gives further kudos to the plans of WFC to build a sustainable club for the future.

Could not agree more.

I feel for the fans and the staff. Not their players.

Run it better, run it within your means, and it won't happen. It is fairly simple.

The BBC news items today ignore that they spent money they didn't really have to get promotion; I doubt their promotion rivals are shedding any tears.

This is from the EFL statement “League One will now comprise of 23 Clubs for the remainder of the campaign and relegation places in the division reduced to three, which will result in a full complement of 24 Clubs in 2020/21. A discussion will take place with EFL Clubs on the consequential impact in League Two when Clubs next meet in September 2019.”
With the emphasis on getting a full complement back in league one im sure they’d want the same for league two, so maybe an extra promotion slot for this league?

It'll be 3 relegation places in our league I expect, and 1 fewer relegation spaces at every level down to where the phoenix club slots in.

Interesting that Brazilian consortium with £7m wanted to buy them

What on earth would they want with Bury FC.

Clearly better for them to start again, free from those without their best interests at heart

Bury fans would be better off now planning for Evo Stik premier in August 2020.

They have a real chance now to sort their club out. Even better if they can get Gigg Lane at an affordable rent. It might take between 5 and 10 years to return to league football though

I reckon they will be placed in at Step 4 being Northern Premier North West Division (it's not the Evo Stik anymore and I refuse to call it by it's new sponsors name).

The question I like is the one that asks to be reinstated in League 2

Not a chance, they missed every deadline given to them and had so many chances to sort things out

Some of the arguments are complete crap in that article. How they can say they were unfairly expelled when they had so so many extensions is complete bull. Also the argument about why they can't just be dropped to league 2 is shit as well. They are lucky they may get to start in any division.

So Adriano Basso was their goalkeeping coach. I wasn't aware of that.
