Good luck to him. First team manager was, in hindsight, a step too far too soon. Who knows, he might end up being the real deal with a bit more experience.

Far better role for him. Someone else making the final tactical calls whilst he can work with the players on the training field. Good luck to him

Very good move for Anthony and I wish him well. Another step on the ladder of experience.

That's what he should have been with us.

Anyone think he might poach a couple of our current or ex players. Potentially couple of the academy lads. Sam for example?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Inih at Grimsby in the near future either.

No. Our team for last season were only good enough to get relegated. Very few will end up succeeding in the national league or above.

At the end of the day, you get a lot of desperate League Two clubs so I wouldn't be surprised to see someone pop up.

Sam has just signed a new contract and with the greatest of respects to a very promising young keeper I don't think he's at the level to justify a fee being spent on him by a league club. Only one he might end up with is Joe Ward who I don't think was pulling up any trees at Peterborough and might need a loan.

Yep could see Inih there. Very much doubt anyone we had left would be good enough.

Did anyone see AL retweet a comment the other day along the lines of “great to see how many of Limbrick’s signings are now at Football League clubs”.

Literally one player.

Strange move. I wonder what 3 year plan Grimsby are working on.

AL, as you owe Woking a lot, I think it's fair if I say on behalf of all cards, "Hands off Staunton"!

I mean, just two points. Just two points from that interminable run of lost games. Just two points was all we needed! Aargh!

I'm a little surprised by this appointment. While I wish the guy well, League 2 (even as an assistant) seems well above his level.

His tactical ineptitude and overly optimistic and delusional rants, taking a 'generally' well backed and well supported team from 2nd to relegation fodder, must surely warrant a stint as an assistant in the isthmian league or Conference South, at best.

he talks a good game

he looks the part

he's got the badges

he'll get a few more jobs yet - it takes about 3 or 4 failures in a row to sink some of these guys

I hope he doesn't sink. Hope he learns, develops and grows as a Manager. Good luck to him. We appointed him, he gave it his best shot. He made mistakes and he will learn from his time here. We move on

Good luck to the guy. He tried his best, and for a while it was great. Yes he took us from 2nd to relegation fodder, but if you moved the clock back you could say he took us from a team that narrowly avoided relegation to 2nd.
His problem was that he was too set on playing only 1 style of tactic. I imagine (hope) he's learnt from that and will be a better coach as a result of it.

AL - Thanks for the cup run, thanks for the first couple of months, thanks for finding a few great players, but I wish you'd changed your approach in December or left the club earlier. Good luck in your career. If you ever get to a big club please loan us some decent players.

I wish him well.

You never know, he may repeat Brian McDermott's feat of winning a second tier title in years to come but just needed that leg up to get started.

Grimsby fans seem very chuffed at Limbricks appointment, they obviously don't watch much National League football these days!

Having said that, their record of appointing good management teams in recent years has hardly been spectacular, so Limbrick may well be an improvement. Strange times.

Good luck to AL, I think it will be a good appointment. Who knows what would have happened if he would have been coach here last season with an experienced head as Manager. Pretty sure we wouldn't have gone done

Whats the betting we get Grimsby in the 1st round of the FA Cup (if we get that far)

Fucking hope not. Grimsby away in the Trophy quarter was one of my darkest moments watching Woking
