New Initiatives to get the team we want.

Post by jonwoozley » Tue Jun 05, 2018 2:09 pm

The club is very quiet. It would be good to know what playing budget we have; how many season tickets have been sold. Then maybe Dowse can let us know how much he wants (within reason), and that sets a target. Even those gypsies down the road do that. If Dowse appealed for 100 people to give £100 so that he could get a better striker I'm sure people would dig deep. Compared to what he worked with at Hampton it would be a fortune.

Other initiatives. How about a direct debit form with each season ticket sent out? Start paying £10 per month and you get your next season ticket at the end of 12 months, then it starts again. Add £7 per month and you get a programme from every game delivered to your door...etc

This works for Virgin Media, Vodafone etc they all have 12 month rolling contracts. Lots of people contribute small amounts to charity each month and forget about it, this is similar to that. Have people (Cards Trust?) signing people up at the turnstiles while they are queuing.

Shameful plug: How many fans have a mortgage? If you ever change lenders, move house or switch fixed rates then let me do it for you and I will give BtB £100. 100 fans per year would produce £10,000 for doing nothing different to normal and it doesn't cost you anything.

Charge an annual fee of £60, or £5 per month to have a brass plaque on Moaners Corner, "JW Moaned here since 1978". A tangible thing to see for your money rather than sponsor the pitch where you don't even get a square of grass to take home.

Target 500 people paying £22 per month ongoing and build it from there. The difference between this club and others at this level is that we have a fan base. If we are to prove that we are too big for this level then we need to tap into them. You the fans will get the team that you deserve, if you pay nothing and moan you will end up with Jezz Jukes, Steve Bickford, Peter Bickford, Martin Black, Jezz Stagg, Neville Hatcher, Clive Stillwell, Keith James, Mark Turkington, Eddie Reeve, Patrice Konan, Nathaniel Pinney & Tamer Tuna!

A vile, detestable club...

OR

A club whose glory days seem to be behind them, whose appointment of a new manager led to a demise, a Marmite (either love ir or hate it) club, with a current manager with a strange accent, fans from around the world...etc

Same. We've had much worse strikers. Probably not the point of the OP to be fair.

If we’re naming an all time worst Cards XI, can I nominate Caleb Kamara Turner.

Stuart Reeks (not of awesomeness). The number of times people made excuses for him, because he was homegrown, was outrageous. It was worse than playing with ten men, because he was unable to do anything.

Reeks played plenty of games though, so there must have been something about him that showed promise.
The one performance of Tony Thorpe was certainly an eye opener, but to get booed off at half-time takes a bit of doing...so the prize has to go to Kamara-Taylor.

To be fair he was only a kid, who shouldn’t have been dropped into that team, as it was obvious after minute one he just wasn’t ready.

Stuart Reeks was an okay player, nothing special, but he was only 19/20 so hardly the finished product and I’ve seen far worse, more experienced players turning out for Woking.
