Wow WFC have actually done something sensible and professional.

Now that is a statement of intent, bring on the season and let’s get behind the boys on the pitch and make it a season to remember.

Well done to all involved.

That is bloody brilliant. And credit where it’s due, that is a huge coup for the board. Congratulations to them.

They got the one that many seemed to be most interested in having as manager, so good job to the board!

And welcome home Martin Tyler! He looks well chuffed in the pictures!

And the fact Banton has been relieved of his contract with immediate effect.

Would love kretzschmar back and one of their centre backs looks decent.

At least Hampton only conceded 37goals 2ndbest in league so hopefully we will be much better defensively

NEW @wokingfc boss Alan Dowson: “I need hardworking players, they’ll be leaving if they’re not. I want to get to know everyone at the club, and have fun in the Dressing room”

I imagine Banton left as he was saying this.

From Hampton forum -

"Behave. Nobody blames Dowse for leaving, it is a big opportunity for him at a club that can back him in a way we can't. Also, nobody has anything but praise, respect and thanks for the job he did here.

You can think those things but still be disappointed, annoyed and confused at the whole situation. We all bought in to him so much and thought he would stick around here for a number of years, that now won't happen and he leaves us in a bit of a mess. We need to find a new manager and no doubt a host of new players. Why would we all be waving him off in to the sunset at that?

And you can't ignore the fact that he must have known that there was an opportunity for him to take this job BEFORE the playoff final, which in my mind is an absolute disgrace from Woking and they should be held in absolute contempt for it.

Dowse has been brilliant for us but if he can drop us so quickly I think we are more than entitled to be critical of the decision and to ask a few questions of everyone involved.

I get they're a bit pissed about it, but I think his head could still be turned regardless of if they went up. Fact is, nobody knows what happened behind the scenes; to throw stones at us in such a way, is a little over the top.

According to Geoff, we didn’t approach anyone. All candidates apparently applied and we simply chose the best one. I understand that they are upset but trying to insinuate that we illegally approached him without any proof is rather pathetic.

Just read this too. How is it our fault he was interested in joining us? Should we have waited specifically until Hampton's season had finished to sack our manager out of politeness?

Looking forward to a chant of "We stole your manager" when we play them.

according to their forum he was on a 12 month rolling contract, so would have been out of contract anyway. Is it unfair of him to look for other work? not really

Hampton should have agreed a 2 year contract with him if they rated him that highly.

Is SunderlandCard still around on here to translate?
