Casey

Post by banksm4004 » Thu Mar 14, 2024 10:26 pm

Is it time for Casey to sit a few games out? I'm not sure this system suits him and feel oppositions have started to target him quite a bit.

The time to drop him was two/three years ago, not now.
He may not be the finished product as a wide midfielder, but you can’t say he’s not giving 100% doing his job.
When most of our squad has declared itself unfit why would you drop a trier? He was on hand to blast it over the bar from a yard out on Tuesday for instance.

I might have agreed with you when he was “the face of Dowse” and we were shit and he was playing in all positions (poorly) in every match. But as soon as he was told to be a defensive fullback, and pretty much ever since, he’s been decent.

One caveat: Refs aren’t giving him the latitude to be such a goblin gobshite as he was and he has apparently lost his bump’n’slump. If he’s not allowed to referee our games anymore, a bit of his magic is gone.
This message brought to you through the POWER OF FACT.

Definitely not. The guy is hardly ever injured and gives his all for the cause. Yes he’s not the greatest player, but teams are not always built on great players… especially not in this league! It’s about the team. He’s our captain, our mainstay… we need him.

Not saying we should - but didn't we just sign Kevin Berkoe. Happens to be a left back.

Love the bloke has been a breath of fresh air and can play! However we are getting younger and more flexible in our new look WFC. I think his days are numbered so enjoy him whilst you can!

A little harsh on the future - but he's not a wing back IMO. If that's what Doyle wants, we are better going for someone who does that role properly.

Great servant for the club though. If we were sticking with the back four, I'd want him back next season. If not, who knows.

I’m not getting the ‘not a wing back, he’s a defender’ when he’s got the energy to get up and down the line all day but can’t stop crosses when he is a at left back (as evidenced at least twice on Tuesday including their first goal).

He’s not in the squad today so maybe ‘banksm4004’ has abducted him.

Yes he's in the boot of my car looking for his tiny shinpads.

I'd say be the dressing room and on the training pitch then make your decision. He's survived for a reason and I'd question the captaincy if the manager wants that but he's Woking FC now and keep the annoying prick pls wow I'm smashed nite

One swallow making a summer and all that.

He was very active in the dugout which I think shows how much Doyle values him - don’t think any of the other injured players have been on the touch line for games.

If you lose a good leader then the team could suffer. Casey (and Scott) lead on the pitch whilst playing. I was not at all surprised to see Casey in the dugout. His passion for this club is obvious.

Also, to say other players don't care and are wage thieves is rubbish. ALL of our team want to play football. It's not just their job, it's their passion. They hate being injured, and some play on even when injured (thanks Sarll...not).

Yup - Moss seems a better player since we brought Kelly-Evans in. The first time he’d had competition in 18 months.
