Re: Dowse Catchup / Collier

Initially underwhelmed by the news but having given it some more thought I can see the logic. Hugely experienced, can cover a number of positions, likely to be a good presence in the dressing room, unlikely to be first choice. Seems a no brainer really.

Re: Sam Howes signs for Woking

Welcome... Is Sam going to be our starter? Seemed to be an indication from Dowse, reiterated by Sam here, that we're aiming to have 'two number ones'. I know that's a bit of a cliche... But perhaps if we had a long-time, experienced Woking fan who'd played at a high level, that would compliment him...

Re: Sam Howes signs for Woking

Speaks very well and has a great CV for a young player. If he can translate that positive mindset and academy prowess into men's football then we'll be onto a winner.

Re: Jack Skinner signs a new deal

Welcome Jack! The academy has always been good but they've done brilliant the last few years to regularly produce players good enough for the first team, or at least the fringes of it. It's such an important method of filling out the squad and if we end up with a Gez Sole, Joe Mac or Charlie Carter ...

Re: Dave Tarpey

I'm with Better Red in that he was misused and better than his performances suggested. He was our fifth top goalscorer last season in a team that had lost its two best players and he only played half of it. There is only so much that you can polish a turd, and we were a massive turd. Couldn't have ...

Re: Dave Tarpey

If he can stay fit I can see him being our best player next season. Based on the 4(maybe) we have signed? 5 - player profiles on the website are up to date. Plus, no doubt, others who because of holidays, deals with other clubs, Dowse being away etc we can't / haven't announced yet. I know of at le...

Re: Next Season Expectation.

We really can't form any sort of tangible expectations until we've seen the strength of the squad we've assembled and how it compares to others in this league over the first few games. Trying to form expectations at this level before the season even gets underway is akin to drawing names out of a ha...

Re: Snake

Does anyone know whether he was released by Aldershot, or did he turn down new contract and choose Eastleigh over Aldershot ? He was out of contract and, I'm guessing, simply not offered a new deal considering their current plight. Surprised he's got a move to Eastleigh though as his best days seem...

Well it’s not rob green, he’s just announced he’s retiring

Retired from 'professional football' - doesn't necessarily count out part-time teams like us? Admittedly very, very unlikely but it would be a nice end to his career to play for us for a year.

Re: Transfer Update

Is it wishful thinking to believe Goddard might come back now? He owns his own business so moving to part time might be something he is actually interested in. I had this thought the other day too. A relatively forgettable 2018/19 season which included being publicly flogged by Stevenage, a loan at...

Re: Armani Little joins Torquay

With all due respect, have we all disappeared up our own bumholes here a little? Torquay, not unlike Barnet, have a recent tradition of competing in the FL or at the top of the Conference. We don’t. Torquay have won promotion on the back of some exceptional form, we didn’t. Torquay is a club with a...

Re: Armani Little joins Torquay

Disappointed and as I said in the other thread, still agree with Dowse that he deserved Football League and if that wasn't forthcoming he could have given us a year being so young. Hold nothing against him though, as others have said, hard to turn down the superior offer he no doubt received from th...

Re: Bury

Just seen that Braintree have been deducted 3 points for fielding an eligible player which means that Havant and Waterlooville would stay up. How would that keep H&W up?!? Unless they are also awarding H&W an extra 4 points for good measure? If Bury were to go, Notts County would go back to L2, Ald...

Re: Transfer Update

Although we sometimes lose sight of it, players are humans that have bills to pay etc. Armani doesn't have another job outside of football and if he can be on a full-time wage, as opposed to a part-time wage, then he will take that. If Torquay are in a position to offer that to him then fair enough...

Re: Transfer Update

A lot of “rumours” of Armani going to Torquay, hopefully not true but wish him all the best if he does! I agree with how Dowse put it in his interview last week. If he goes to the Football League - brilliant, well deserved, no complaints from us at all. If he's going to our league it would be disap...

He was also the only member of Dowse's 2017/18 squad to be on the losing side of the play-off final this season. Good luck to him at Harrogate. Looking forward to you starting other threads about players that have never played for us.

I seem to remember Leyton Orient didn't think much of Caprice either. But ever since that game when we stuck 4 past Tranmere they'd wanted Caprice and now he's done the business for them. Good luck to the lad.

Re: Transfer Update

I find this thread a little odd. Diarra seems to be well liked when he was pretty bad for most of his time with us. And didn’t Poku play for us before? Wasn’t he a bit average? He was but didn't really play, he's had a very good season, he has a lot to prove with us and that can only be a good thin...

Re: Transfer Update

A few people getting carried away since the final regarding our defence and the fact that prior to that we had gone 10 games without keeping a clean sheet, the main reason for that being that the defence wasn’t good enough. So why would we keep exactly the same defence to go up a level? Massive pra...

Ben Gerring is good enough for the NLP - you watch . Every team, and I mean every team, in that league has 2 6ft 5ins monsters at the back and by defination , none of them are anything other than headers and kickers of the ball. The Stones, Laportes, Foite types don't exist in the NLP , if they did...

Not that I heard. Other players mentioned were Ross, Hyde, Skinner, Gerring and Diarra as probable / possible, in addition to the five confirmed.
