Ex-Cards - May 29th onwards

Seems like we're starting to see squads creaking into life now that every non-league competition is more or less sorted, and I'm proper bored, so thought I'd kick this off again in the vague hope that we start to see transfers knocking around and I can get all excited. Ex-Woking player Simon Lane ha...

Re: BBC on how Coronavirus has impacted non-PL clubs

It made it! A little mention, but nice to be there - "as featured on the BBC, the #getbehindtheshirt campaign..." Lovely. I think it's a great example of how fans are looking to get involved to help their club at the lower levels. I wonder what the FA will do to help as well. Most comments from L1,...

League Two clubs vote to end season, but League One teams fail to decide

Via BBC Sport : League Two's season has been brought to an early conclusion following discussions between clubs and the English Football League. After an indicative vote by the clubs, the table is set to be decided using a weighted points-per-game method, while the play-offs would be played as usual...

That may explain Loza’s comment on twitter today if Chelmsford have released players. Their loss our gain? I’d like to think so.
Like clockwork. You're half right at least, but if he's already had offers, they can't have come from us can they?

Re: Who do we keep?

So when are clubs going to start signing players? Anyone but the heavily backed clubs won’t want to sign anyone until they have a date when the crowds are going to be back or the FA pay the clubs to play behind close doors. Until there's a concrete start date for the season, I'm not sure how anyone...

If Borehamwood have released Tshimanga I’d have him over here like a rocket.
Time for Murtagh to come back too.

Re: Who do we keep?

Thought it may be of interest that teams are starting to announce their retained lists. Ebbsfleet , Chesterfield , and Solihull have joined Torquay in announcing their released players. Aswad Thomas and Shwan Jalal are ex-Cards confirmed to be leaving. That's on top of Barnet making their entire squ...

15/16 - Holman (who went up in that year with Cheltenham) - Nope
16/17 - Ugwu - Correct
17/18 - Effiong - Nope
18/19 - Max and Hyde - Correct
19/20 - Hyde - Correct
Then 17/18 must be Carter. 15/16 maybe Goddard?

I was actually thinking of getting a flag made up during our enforced holiday from football. If it was going to include a year, I assume we'd want it to say 87 rather than 89?

Re: Who do we keep?

I'm hopeful that our part-time status will play into our hands. I'm not sure how forthcoming high-wage offers will be in the current climate - unless players get a great offer, it might mean an effective pay cut (or the sacrifice of progress in the career they'll lean on after football) for some if ...

Re: Fans' Player of the Season

I think there's an argument, in terms of individual players, for Ross earning us more points than anyone else this season. Chorley (A), Wrexham (H), Bromley (H), County (A) all stick out as huge contributions. Has to be my vote. That said, I think about a third of the squad has a shout. What a brill...

Re: Woking fans – support our new stadium regeneration

The government have announced that local elections - including at council level - will be postponed for a year. Think this is interesting as, for better or for worse, it makes it likely that if the plans were rejected, they'd be resubmitted to the same people. At the same time, councillors might fee...

It’s more affordable than it would have been!
Not if you can't afford it.
You're both right. It's well established that Surrey house prices take the certified piss, but schemes that reduce the price as much as possible are always going to be welcome.

On social media they are saying the planning inspector has rejected. “Firm in his recommendation that the site is not suitable” for the density and that affordable should be 50% Is this true or SWAG flexing the truth again? Re: Woking fans – support our new stadium regeneration

According to a SWAG post on Facebook, the Planning Inspector thinks there would be over-density if the current housing proposals were to ahead. I saw this on the Woking Live group. Some of the NIMBYs are really celebrating it, but in truth all it means is that the inspector doesn't know what the ex...

17th March IIRC. I’d urge any Woking fans to write in support to their local councillor, especially if they are on the committee who will be making the decision. And make some social media noise if they can, as there's a small but fairly regular stream of crackpots trying to dictate the narrative. ...

Chobham Card - any chance you could go and expose some utter garbage on Twitter? Twitter is a cesspit, and the SWAG group itself ba...

I also agree with the majority of CCs comments, and very well put they were. I assume (or at least hope) that this would be i...

Re: Woking fans – support our new stadium regeneration

I agree that WFC needs a mordern stadium as the old one has reached its sell by date, but not to the detriment of the local area. I read this a lot, and I am increasingly taking it to mean "without impacting or changing the local area in any way." This is, unfortunately, impossible. What I would sa...
